New additions and upcoming changes

September, 3/2004 - Welcome back to another school year for those of you that are just coming back! All links have been tested in the resource section with new additions as well. I've done general housecleaning throughout the entire site so things should be looking good! Enjoy!

April 25/2004 - Disability News Ticker undergoes MAJOR Changes, Adds RSS Feeds

The Disability News Ticker has recently undergone major navigation and content changes with the redesign of the entire section. New headlines will now be listed on a page that will show all new entries, as opposed to the previous format which listed countries on one page. This new format will give you a quick and easy chance to scan through the new headlines instead of having to sort through each individual country. I have moved the country listings to 6 new continent pages: The Americas, Europe, Asia, Africa, Oceania and a section called "Special" which contains the International and Technology Disability-related news. Archives still exist from each country listing.

In addition to the re-design I have added an "RSS XML" feed for those that use the "News Aggregator" Internet technology. To subscribe to the feed simply use the following URL:

Abilityinfo Disability News Ticker

You can subscribe the News Ticker's feed by using a web-based aggregator called Bloglines.com or you can download a news aggregator that resides on your computer much the same way that Outlook Express or Internet Explorer does. To learn more about RSS and how to make use of it read this article.

January, 27/2004 - Abilityinfo has just turned five years old!! Thanks to everyone that has been around with it for those five years! The site itself goes back seven years, but the domain and the site as you see it now has been ticking along for five years. I just added a special section to the Robert Latimer Section of the site as the 10 year anniversary of Robert Latimer's choice to end the life of his daugther Tracy has just passed. The section covers news interviews with him and other opinion based articles on the story.

January, 10/2004 - I have just completed adding 27 new headlines in the news area. There is an interesting cross section of stories added in each of the new countries and I invite you to take a look. Does anyone have any suggestions for how I should better layout the news area? Drop me a line if you do.

December, 30/2003 - I've started experimenting with a new colour scheme and have made changes to some of the logos and images to support the new background. The news ticker is up to date with new headlines as well. Happy New Year! All the best in 2004!

October, 4/2003 - The Disability News Ticker has just been updated with the largest amount of new stories I have ever entered at one time with 26 new stories for review!

August, 26/2003 - The Reading Room has been updated to include a new bookshop. A resource section has also been added to help you find other sites that specialize in disability books. If you are an author of a book that focusses on disability as a subject or theme, feel free to promote your work in the Reading Room discussion area.

I have added a few things on the front page as well: A "most popular" section to direct you to the most visited areas of the site, as well as a Google site and web search tool. I hope you find all of these additions useful.

August, 25/2003 - Approximately 30 new links have been added to the Student and Disability Resources section. A new section in the Featured Links area is starting to be assembled as well: Cambodia and Disability. The section will spotlight the country of Cambodia and the challenges and successes individuals with a disability experience there. The next area of update that I will be moving to is the Reading Room. Stay tuned!

August, 11/2003 - I have tested all of the links in the Student and Disability Resources section. This means there shouldn't be any more dead links when you click through to the various sites. My next steps will be to add in new links and make the section more valuable to use.

July, 17/2003 - I am currently testing the new Google AdSense program which I hope will cover some of my costs involved in keeping Abilityinfo afloat. Please let me know if the ads cause any problems for you when viewing the site. The News Ticker has been updated with some new stories and I am still working through plans for the Reading Room and a Resource Link section update.

May, 29/2003 - The News Ticker has been updated today with 11 new stories to review. Please email me suggestions or aspects of the News Ticker that you like. I am trying to redesign it and appreciate any input you can give to me. Please email me at: abilityinfo5@yahoo.ca .. Thank-you!

May, 5/2003 - The Robert Latimer News Archive has been updated with expired links removed and new links added. I have added a link to the Alexa.com Site Info page for Abilityinfo.com This information shows where Abilityinfo sits in the ranking system that Alexa uses to organize sites. I have also cleaned bogus postings made by some visitors to the message boards so the messages in the Information Marketplace and jobs board should be more relevant. The Reading Room has been updated with a current list of disability magazines. There will be new content added to this area soon.

May, 1/2003 - I have divided the disability studies related programs in the "Student" resource section into two sections: 1. Disability Studies and Institutions, and 2. Developmental Services Worker Programs. I have added some new links to various programs and cleaned up the links to other sites on this page. New links have also been added in the Organizations and Groups, Culture, and Tech|Net areas. New links are listed from the top. Thank you to everyone who has sent me feedback about the news ticker. Please drop me a line on the email address provided from the news ticker for any suggestions you might have. Some new disability related news stories from various countries can be found here, also. A theme I'm seeing within the news recently is stories pertaining to individuals with a disability and employment. Stories range from the untapped labor market that exists to wrongful dismissals, to reasons why people with a disability do not get hired.

April, 10/2003 - The Abilityinfo Bookstore has assumed a new name - "The Reading Room". This name change will bring with it some new sections as well. I'll be adding a new magazines and books area, in the months to come. In the News Ticker all African countries with the exception of South Africa have been grouped into a category called "African Region". I will be placing the name of the country in 'ALL CAPS' after the news source to help you determine which African country the story is in. I have been adding some stories to countries that I haven't listed in the past, such as Italy and South Korea.
